Teacher Bios

Nalandabodhi Karunika Kris Shaw has been a student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche since 1997. A long-time Buddhist, he is the father of two children and has been a public defender for over 20 years. He’s interested in lucid dreaming, Taylor Swift, and suffering less and less.

Hilery Avritt has been studying and practicing Buddhism for 30+ years, primarily in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hahn. Currently a student of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche and Tina Rasmussen, she is oriented toward self compassion practices, neuroscience and the confluence of modern tools and ancient wisdom. She’s a wellness professional, entrepreneur, empty nester, and lover of dance. She shares her birthday with St. Lucia, who brings light during the darkest time of year, and Taylor Swift.
