Once you have visited us at Nalanda West, explored our classes, and started to develop a meditation practice, you may wish to make a stronger connection to Nalandabodhi. In doing so, you can support Nalandabodhi as well as continue your own journey along the path. In becoming a member, we ask you to consider your commitment to one or more of the Three Paths that we offer.
If you would like to become a member, please set up your recurring dues payment using the links below and contact one of the co-directors to have a conversation about which of the Three Paths interest you.
If you wish to support Nalandabodhi Seattle and participate as a full member, the dues are $40 per month. Your dues support our study curriculum, Rinpoche’s teachings, and our center’s many and various activities. However, if this amount creates a hardship, it is possible to contribute an income-appropriate amount.
Sangha membership benefits include personal meditation practice instruction and discounts on classes and programs. Also, Nalandabodhi members who in good standing with their local sanghas and who are also formal students of Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche are invited to attend our annual sangha retreat.
Please sign up to pay recurring dues either via PayPal or by setting up Online Bill Pay with your bank.Â
Remember to choose Monthly or Yearly to establish a recurring Nalandabodhi Seattle membership dues contribution.
As an alternative to PayPal, click here for the instructions on how to set up Online Bill Pay at your bank. Please contact one of the sangha co-directors at seattle@nalandabodhi.org if you are having trouble setting up Online Bill Pay.
Formal membership is not required to participate in our community activities. If you are interested in developing a meditation practice or attending an occasional weekend program, we welcome your participation. Please visit our Donation page to find other ways to contribute financially.
The Path of Meditation provides progressive stages of practice for working with one’s mind. From foundational calm abiding meditation to the profound practices of the Vajrayana, including Mahamudra and Dzogchen, this path covers all stages of teaching in our tradition. This systematic approach creates a welcoming, transformative environment for people of all levels and with different interests.
As part of the Path of Meditation, Practice Instructors act as friendly guides to help members along their journey.Â
We encourage members to engage in a daily meditation practice with guidance from a Practice Instructor, an experienced practitioner and personal mentor who can suggest classes and readings to strengthen your meditation practice. Opportunities for group practice and instruction are also available weekly.Â
The Buddha’s teachings shine light on how we perceive ourselves and the world around us. This clarity leads to insights that can deepen our compassion, expand our understanding, and help us realize our full potential.
Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche emphasizes the importance of engaging in study and contemplation, even before meditation. Under his direction, Nalandabodhi has developed a comprehensive and systematic Buddhist study curriculum that applies to our lives today.
Our curriculum covers the philosophical, meditative, and practical teachings presented in the Kagyu and Nyingma schools of Tibetan Buddhism. On the path of study, students will develop insight as they progress through the courses developed by our teacher, Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche.
The Path of Mindful Activity (PoMA) serves as a bridge linking study, meditation, and our daily lives. PoMA also helps us deepen our connection to Buddha, dharma, and sangha through service. When approached as practice and as path, dharma service provides an indispensable opportunity: to watch our minds as we practice the habit of letting go—with the support of other practitioners doing the same.
Nalandabodhi Centers and members also offer mindful activity in support of our broader communities. Our #GoKind projects include serving people who are homeless, incarcerated, or experiencing suffering related to illness, hunger, or other stressors.
The classes and events of Nalandabodhi are run by volunteers. Classes are taught by our senior students, and celebrations are planned by community members. There are many opportunities for members to make a meaningful commitment to the community as well as to their personal practice on the Path of Mindful Activity.
