This introductory course will focus on the basic ground, or view, of Tibetan Buddhism. All Buddhist practices are based on the life and teachings of the Buddha. But each tradition manifests the teachings in different ways. Tibetan Buddhism explores the relationship between mind and its world. Where does the mind stop and the world begin? What obscures clear seeing? What is the essence of compassion?
Each class will begin with fifteen minutes of meditation followed by a facilitated discussion of a key teaching. The classes will be ninety minutes allowing plenty of time for questions and discussion. They will conclude with fifteen minutes of guided analytic meditation based on the teaching discussed.
The topics covered in this series will be The Four Noble Truths, The Root of Suffering, Working with Emotions, Karma and Dependent Origination.

Class Facilitator Dianne Eberlein became a member of Nalandabodhi Seattle in 2010 and a formal student of Ponlop Rinpoche the following year. Originally from Minnesota, Dianne moved to Seattle in 2004 and, after retiring from a career in business, became involved in the community through volunteer teaching. After discovering Nalandabodhi in the Fremont neighborhood, she developed an active interest in Buddhist philosophy and completed the Study Curriculum of Nalandabodhi as well as attending classes of its affiliated nonprofit, Nitartha Institute. Dianne is actively involved in the Seattle sangha and served as Nalandabodhi Seattle Sangha Director from 2019 to 2024.
