Chötrul Düchen is the second Buddhist holiday that occurs in what is known as the “month of miracles.” It is a celebration of Shakyamuni Buddha’s display of miracles over a fifteen day period. It is said that the Buddha displayed different miracles each day to spur devotion and increase the merit of his current and future disciples.
As students of Buddhism in the 21st century, Chötrul Düchen gives us the opportunity to consider the meaning of miracles and the joyful opportunity to appreciate how the Buddha’s wisdom and compassion lives in the hearts and minds of all of us.
Join us for a contemplation of miracles with Lynne Marvet starting at 6:00 pm followed by practice and liturgy at 6:20 pm.
