Life release is a powerful practice. Freeing sentient beings who would otherwise die due to human activity is taught to increase the merit of those who are on the path of dharma. In June 2023, three Nalandabodhi sanghas collaborated to offer a life release practice in honor of Ponlop Rinpoche’s birthday. Hundreds of sea creatures were released to continue their journey.
We are fortunate to have received another significant donation for a life release practice during Tara Drupchen. In Vajrayana Buddhism, the image of Tara symbolizes loving kindness and compassion. Our practice during Tara Drupchen helps us connect with our own fearlessness and loving kindness and compels us to bring compassion for all sentient beings into our lives.
During Tara Drupchen we will once again partner with our sister sanghas in Asia to offer a life release practice. It is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 24 in Taipei at 5 a.m. and in Hong Kong at 4 p.m.. In Seattle, this will be Saturday Sept. 23 at 2 p.m. and early Sunday at 1 am.
You may wish to pause at those times and make the aspiration that all beings be free and that they enjoy favorable conditions on their path to enlightenment.
Om Tāre Tuttāre Ture Svāhā.
