Kum Nye (Tibetan Yoga) is a practice based on traditional Tibetan healing knowledge that incorporates breathing and movement exercises, meditation and self-massage. Kum Nye relaxes the body and mind, opens the senses, improves energy flow and inner balance, and promotes healing.

Tarthang Tulku, the teacher who introduced Kum Nye to the west in the early 1970s, writes in the preface to his book Kum Nye Tibetan Yoga:

“Kum Nye Tibetan Relaxation is a gentle healing system that relieves stress, transforms negative patterns, helps us to be more balanced and healthy, and increases our enjoyment and appreciation of life.  Kum Nye heals both our bodies and minds, bringing their energies together to function calmly and smoothly.”

Tarthang Tulku extended and adapted Kum Nye exercises to help relieve his students’ deeply-rooted tensions that interfere with meditation.

No previous experience in yoga or Tibetan yoga is required and exercises can be modified according to participants’ skills.

Please  bring your own yoga mat and yoga blanket (similar type of blanket or medium size towel are also fine) to class.
