Losar is the Tibetan New Year. “Lo” means “year” or “age” and “sar” means “fresh” or “new.” Losar is a time to start with a new outlook as we set the tone for the coming year. It is a time to come together as a sangha, share our heartfelt aspirations, mark transitions in leadership roles, and honor our teachers.
It is the custom at Nalandabodhi to host three evenings of protector chants during the three nights that precede the day before Losar, the lunar new year. The purpose of these gatherings is to purify any remaining negativity from the past year and clear away obstacles for the coming year.
If you would like to help support the Losar celebrations, please contact Darcey or Eric.
