Compassion in Action: Lunch for Homeless Community — March 28, 2018

When everything is good, we can sit on our cushions. When there are things to take care of, we should get up and do it. Even Buddha said it is hard for a person to make progress when he is hungry.

Lunch for Homeless Community with Venerable Pannavati

Wednesday, March 28, 2018 9:30am–1:00pm

We invite you to join Venerable Pannavati and other volunteers on Wednesday, March 28, to prepare a meal for the residents of Licton Springs Tiny House Village. A lunch of sandwiches, salad, fruit and beverages will be prepared in the Nalanda West kitchen and delivered to the community at noon. Ideally, we would like eight to ten volunteers to help with food preparation and two to three people to deliver lunch to the community. As Venerable has pointed out in her many teachings, “You come to realize that when you’re serving others, you are in fact serving yourself.”

9:30–10:00 Meditation
10:00–12:00 Preparing sandwiches and salads
12:00 Delivering lunch to Licton Springs Village

Information about Licton Springs Tiny House Village

This unique, groundbreaking, low-barrier Village at 8620 N Aurora is a mix of tiny houses and dormitory tents designed to be a safe community for people coming from crisis outdoor living situations. SHARE/WHEEL is operating the camp in partnership with the Low Income Housing Institute (LIHI), with funds from the City of Seattle.

If you are unable to join us for the event, a donation for the purchase of food would be greatly appreciated.
