Garden Party at Licton Springs

October 22, 2017
1:00-5:00 PM

Please join your sangha community in helping to bring color and beauty to the homeless village of Licton Springs.

Licton Springs is a low-barrier homeless community with a mixture of tiny houses and dormitory tents designed to be a safe place for people in crisis. SHARE/WHEEL operates the camp in partnership with the Low Income Housing Institute.

We have been invited to work with community members on Sunday, October 22 to plant and locate 6 to 8 large planters in the communal areas of the camp.

Here is how you can help:

  • Volunteer to help transport materials (e.g. pots, soil, plants, etc.) to the camp on October 22.
Please contact Dianne Eberlein at if you have a truck or SUV and would like to help.
  • Volunteer to work with Licton Springs community members to plant flowers and shrubs. The work activity is 1:00 to 5:00 on Sunday October 22.
Please contact Dianne Eberlein at if you are interested in helping.
  • Donate new or gently used 24″ planters. We need a maximum of eight planters and, in order to reduce cost and encourage recycling, would like to use donated pots.
  • Donate money to help purchase potting soil and hardy plants. Alex LaVilla is our consultant on this project to help ensure we select plants that will thrive in the rainy winter months.

We are excited about the opportunity to work with the Licton Springs community and hope you can join us!

Path of Mindful Activity

As you engage in this PoMA project, watch your mind. How does it change as the project comes to fruition?

One just feels better going from a messy environment to a prettier environment. That is especially true for the folks that live there. Lending a helping hand benefits oneself and others!
